    Excellent Source for Maintenance Tips
I haven’t found a source of podcasts yet that has such a rich source of maintenance tips and recommendations that is available on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Ask the A&P is great too, but Dean does an excellent job explaining his first-hand experiences and lessons learned from inspecting and repairing aircraft that he works on daily. As an aircraft owner and A&P in-training, I have learned several tips just from listening to Dean, like buying the Autool Smoke leak detector to troubleshoot my induction leak. Thanks, Dean!

    Great Aircraft Maintenance Podcast
This podcast offers a wealth of knowledge, I have listened to every episode and have learned a lot! I am an A&P and own a 1979 182Q with a Texas Skyways O-520, Horton STOL kit along with a lot of other mods. I enjoy working on it as much as I do flying it and the info I have gained here has been a huge help!

More confidence as an aircraft owner
Dean takes some of the mystery out of aircraft maintenance. The podcast helps me to be a more informed and confident aircraft owner. I own a 1946 Stinson 108, actually number 36 off the assembly line. I love hearing about the various aircraft and issues he presents. I also really enjoy the inspiring stories of the guests. I especially enjoyed episode 160 about the family serving with the mission organization in Cameroon, so inspiring! Thanks Dean, and keep it up!

    Awesome podcast!
This is a great podcast for those maintenance savvy, mechanical nerds like me; but I think anyone with an interest in Aviation and an appetite to learn would enjoy listening to Dean’s detailed maintenance stories from the shop. I also enjoy the other stories and adventures that Dean shares. Keep up the good work!

    Great podcast
Dean puts out a great podcast full of information for GA aircraft owners and enthusiasts. You can tell he loves what he does and really enjoys sharing his experience with people. He was kind enough to answer a question I had and got back to me fast. He definitely seems like the type of guy that you can sit and talk about aircraft for hours. Awesome show!

Lost me after the mask/covid 19 comments
I liked the information he gave out until he made comments about wearing a mask and political view. I have to now question his comments about aircraft. So today was my last listening to this podcast

A “must listen” for all pilots!
I have been really enjoying the Airplane Owner Maintenance podcast for several months now. Dean does an awesome job of explaining maintenance issues and concepts that are important to not only aircraft owners, but all pilots. As PIC, we are ultimately responsible for the airworthiness of aircraft we fly. This podcast provides new insight to this task. Keep up the great work, Dean!

    Outstanding Podcast!
Every aircraft owner and pilot should be tuned in to this podcast. Dean’s approach to maintenance encourages each of us, whether you own or rent, to be involved in what is happening with your aircraft, from preflight to post flight and every inspection or discrepancy. He relates his vast experience and expertise to help pilots be proactive about what to look for beyond the checklist. He challenges us to really think about how the systems in our aircraft work and the best way to ensure we are the PIC of safe and airworthy machines. Thanks for the inspiration! Mike White

    Excellent and rare topic
Production quality is good. Topics are useful. While the pace might be repetitive or slow at times when it over...well...you have learned a few nice tricks and been given something to think about. Rare quality in podcasts. Listened to many now and really have enjoyed them.

    Super Hero and A&P
Dean is a superhero A&P. His podcast is like no other. He dives deep into real world everyday mechanical issues that come through the shop. He uses his superhero powers on every case to offer resolutions for their customers to fix their airplane problems! And not by just changing a part to see if that fixes it , he investigates why it failed by looks deeper into the root cause of the failure then fixes it to top standards. In my book that makes him a superhero for going above and beyond! Thank you for taking the time producing such a great podcast so we can follow along with your daily endeavors and spreading such valuable information. Will Student Pilot

    A true master!!
As a newer plane owner, Dean's podcast had been a very valuable asset. I've saved so much by learning preventative maintenance and gaining confidence before spending unnecessary money with my A&P. Recently Dean helped me with a charging issue that we were able to diagnose before resorting to the "shotgun" method. Keep up the great work for our community. Thanks Dean!!

Dean I enjoy hearing your podcasts. I was hooked after listening to you interviews with Brett Chilcott. I too have a Stinson and enjoy doing owner maintenance and my owner assisted annual. Only request I would have is I wish you would cover more on vintage or tube and fabric airplanes. Thanks for some great podcasts Brad Schmidt N8243K ‘46 Stinson Voyager 150

    A great resource!
Dean's podcast is informative and entertaining. I am currently in school working towards an A&P and it has been really beneficial to be able to listen to a seasoned mechanic talk about the topics we cover in class. When I was in aircraft electrical systems it was really fun to start my day by listening to the podcasts covering that subject, and now that I'm in lubracation systems it's great to hear about those! I actually go to school just a few hangers down from Classic so it blew me away when I realized Dean was based out of the Shanandoah Valley. Really love the show and would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in aviation!!!

    Down to earth education!
Dean does a spectacular job detailing the issues that he encounters in his shop and details the troubleshooting steps taken to resolve them. As an owner of a 1960 Piper Comanche who performs as much pilot maintenance as I can, I learn what to look for while troubleshooting issues on my airplane and how to communicate more effectively with my mechanic. Keep up the great work, Dean!

A great show for aviation enthusiasts
Airplane Owner Maintenance is a podcast where Dean takes us, in his very easy to understand way, on how he deals with the every day topics on maintaining piston powered aircraft up to date in the shop where he works at. • 4rcherPilot
Excellent source of information for the aircraft owner
I just love this podcast! I own a Piper Archer, and have learned many useful things from Dean, and probably saved myself some expensive maintenance bills. The post useful single tip is to do thorough troubleshooting yourself before bringing a problem to your A&P. I've done this a couple of times now inspired by Dean's advice and lead my shop on a direct path to the solution of some maintenance issues. Also, I now start my engine each time using Dean's recommendation with the throttle fully closed, and it works great. I could go on, but if everyone followed all of Dean's advice they would be heroes with their maintenance shops!

The nuts and bolts of it all.
Dean I Just want to say thank you for the many hours of knowledge you have shared with us. It shows just how much you love aviation because if someone were to ask me to come home after work and produce a podcast about my job I would have a few choice words for them. You are doing a fantastic job of keeping it interesting for those that own planes as well as those that dream of making the big step some day. Keep up the good work both in the shop and with the podcast. Darin TX

    Very helpful to any pilot
Great insights for any pilot on how various aspects of the aircraft work. Great supplement for owners/operators to keep your bird running affordably. With the sad loss of Light Plane Maintenance magazine, ths podcast becomes a bite-size go-to on how to learn the basics of systems on your favorite bird.

  • Beechpilot
    Airplane maintenance podcast
I am an owner/pilot of a certified airplane, a Piper Archer ll, and have always been involved with doing approved maintenance myself. To do so takes a mechanical ability and knowledge of standard practices. Dean's podcast touches on many interesting maintenance subjects which pave the way to doing tasks the right way .. as if a life may depend on that, or at least prevent being stranded someplace. He is gracious to share his knowledge and pilots strive to learn.
