Sir Barnwell, I appreciate your thoughtful insight and approach to analyzing the game, which includes both advanced level statistics and x’s & o’s. I wanted to pitch an idea for an early offseason episode. I am not a Saints fan, but their predicament is fascinating. You (and others) have discussed their situation from several 1,000 ft views. I would love to hear (possibly a cross over episode) you, Jason Fitzgerald, and Field Yates dive into the specifics of the Saints. How did they get here? Constant double down and pushing cap into the future. Which contracts were good, or less than ideal? What would you have done differently? Then what do they do now? Considering the new coach and how he changed his offensive philosophy this year with an Eagles team built to run, how do you build a team? Or does he adjust again? Considering cap implications, whom do you release? Slowly? Or a complete dump and reset? Older team to bring up the next generation or handle it like Houston? Bring in new free agents on short deals. Two years with half the team on league minimums? Who would you bring in? And the final piece, is draft. You know their draft picks this year and can project a couple years. Who do you draft? Draft back and get picks, which is not their traditional approach? Can they repeat their monster draft class of 2017? What if it’s only 3 starters per year that hit? I would love to hear you fix their fascinating situation. Thanks, David

Love the show—I’m new to football and am learning a lot here. The sound needs to be balanced. I jump in my seat during ad reads. If I stop listening to the show, it’ll solely be because of that reason.

Bill is super knowledgeable and interesting, and gas great guests. He does need to sort out his sound quality though!

Not the first to say, but audio is lacking for what otherwise is a quality show: - Bills audio is muffled, quiet, and cuts in and out. It’s like he’s leaning toward and away from a mic. - Bills audio is always waaaaay quieter than his guests. I have to turn up the volume to hear him, but his guests are then super loud - Ad reads are turned up to 11, I almost don’t want to listen with headphones. Going from bills rapid and muffled audio, to a professional reading is jarring. Even his own ad reads are night and day. It’s like he did the ads in a studio and the episode in a bathroom.

Been following Barnwell since the Grantland days, and have always enjoyed his football insights. While the show is still enjoyable, it’s becoming clear that the podcast is a lower priority for Bill as he does more TV hits. Part of that shows in that it’s almost always the same teams being discussed every week, which is great if you’re a fan of the Steelers, Jets, Giants, Eagles or Cowboys. As a Packers/NFC North fan, I’ve come to accept that Bill just doesn’t follow the division closely and really seems out-of-depth when forced to discuss it.

Good content but terrible audio - I can’t turn it up loud enough to hear it half the time, even though the ads are plenty loud. If I can’t hear the podcast, it’s bad.

I like the content of this show, but either bill needs to get a new mic or probably more accurately the producer needs to balance this audio better. The podcast audio is noticeably quiet and the commercials, by contrast, BLAST my ear drums every time they come on because I have to have the volume up so high. Come on, ESPN.

Barnwell is knowledgeable and thoughtful in his analysis, which makes him better than 99% of sports journalists.

Bill is one of the most objective, level-headed football analysts out there. I appreciate how he can challenge the rigor of his guests’ analysis when he disagrees. Definitely a much-needed balance in a landscape dominated by cohosts exclusively agreeing with each other or its polar opposite, First Take-style argument for the sake of argument.

Barnwell has an analytical mind and a precise style that leaves most consensus opinions in the dust. For the take everyone will figure out next week, hear it here first. Numbers and ball don’t lie.

Robert Mays and Bill have excellent chemistry and also extensive knowledge about football so not only an informative episode, but very enjoyable to listen to them banter. Love it! Also really appreciated Bill having Danny Kelly on this week.

Here after the Super Bowl trying to get into the pod, because Barnwell is the best football writer in the world. Good LORD Dominique Foxworth was a terrible guest. This pod was several tiers below The Athletic and even The Ringer NFL Show, which I didn’t expect. Will give it another shot when he has better guests on (ie— Mina, Nate Tice, beat reporters when the topic is a particular team, etc)

Not sure how a show like this can have such bad audio. This show really offers nothing unique and it seems really phoned in at this point. I’ll listen to it on a slow day if the other stuff in my feed has dried up. Ads are especially annoying on this show too

Seems like he barely cares about doing a podcast anymore, like it was included in his contract so he has to do it. Intro music is messed up sound level wise compared to the spoken word volume so it blasts your ears making you lower the volume then you can barely hear him until you turn the volume back up

What happened? I have never heard worse audio in my life. Every first time podcast with $20 for a Walmart mic and no experience at all puts out better audio. Are you seriously just trolling now? Just buy a mic that works. Or produce your audio. Or hire somebody? I am embarrassed for you.

Great podcast - informative and funny. But please fix the audio issues (one person is garbled and quiet and the other loud). Also, keeping all the tangents to a minimum would be appreciated.

I love the deep dives that Bill goes on with his guests. Any NFL fan that wants to gain a deeper appreciation for the game should listen. One note of criticism though: I can’t help but think that this show could be dramatically improved with a canine co-host

I have not heard the podcast but I’m sure it’s great. I used to listen to him on Grantland back in the day with Robert Mays and Bill always gave great insight and I’m sure this podcast is no different. My biggest gripe is why is he so sensitive on Twitter? I don’t even know what I said I got blocked and it’s really upsetting since Twitter is how I get to read his articles. Who the hell goes on ESPN.COM anymore and searches for this guy? It’s like using a phone book. Anyways I hope this is a good laugh and Bill if you are reading this can you unblock me?

Been listening for years and always find Bill Barnwells insight compelling and based on stats. Would recommend for NFL fans and just generally a great listen

I greatly prefer Bill’s analysis as opposed to “hot takes” by others.

Bill and his guest does a great job analyzing and critiquing the game with actual facts and data. Very well put together. Bonus if you live in a state where it’s legal to gamble on sports, this podcast is a MUST LISTEN.

When a non espn writer is on- it typically sounds like the person is recording in a trash can. It’s 2019- the sound quality needs to be better. Also- barn well is analytically inclined- stop having him interview dumber people
