    Important podcast! Well done.
Really enjoying the Catholic deconstruction voices shared on here recently. All the voices of religious trauma syndrome & deconstruction are so important and thought provoking. Keep doing the good healing work here. Very well done & informative. The more we share, the more we untangle, the more we can grow past the constraints of indoctrination and the manipulations of these systems of control .

    Not alone
It was nice to stumble on this down to earth podcast. Sometimes you can feel alone in your journey towards the light, particularly when you come from a super evangelical family. Interview style podcast with content I think a lot of people can relate to. A good reminder we are not alone!

    Great Podcast!
I love Steve’s interviewing style. He lets the story unfold and allows the guest to speak without being talked over. The stories are always interesting and Steve does a great job asking the questions the listeners want answered.

    Exactly what I need
I'm so grateful for this podcast. I started my journey of deconversion several years ago, but I've realized recently that I need more resources and support as I continue unlearning the cognitions and biases I was raised with. I couldn't possibly overstate how helpful these interviews have been already, and I still have most of the episodes ahead of me! The stories span the whole range of human emotions, and yet I find the conversations soothing. And by the end of each one, I have new resources to look into! Like a deer finally finding the water I truly need, if you will ;)

    So encouraging
I loved listening to the stories. I like your intelligent conversations. They are filled with genuine curiosity in your guests deconversion stories. I like your style. I also attended my first athiest meetup last night because i have been thinking about evolution alot. If i may share my deconversion story, more than half of my life was centered around church and sometimes our house was the church. I taught sunday school since i was 16 and was good at converting friends to christianity. Eventually, i attended seminary and became A youth pastor. Its been 19 years since i left the church but i still feel like a fish out of water or just plain fake at family gatherings because im not a christian. Another interesting challenge was Creating meaningful holiday celebrations outside of religion. Even so my journey out of the church has been an incredible liberation. Best of all, i have given my son a great gift “true free will” to explore the ends of the earth and find his way.

    Thoughtful and Much Needed!
This podcast explores the emotional and intellectual process of deconversion in a nuanced and thoughtful way. The host, Steven Hilliker, asks insightful questions and his interviewees are open to sharing their own personal deconversion narratives. I highly recommend this podcast for someone who has deconverted themselves or knows someone who has.

    Great host, great questions
I love listening to this. I've been looking for a community of deconverts and Steve is doing it right. I think that the way he's so open to all different walks and asks poignent questions really enhances the material. I think that if we all approached each other with this kind of thoughtful openness and discussion our community would grow. I will keep listening. Thank you!

Just what I was Looking for.
This is officially my very first Podcast review & I wanted to give that honor to VOD. After trying out a couple of atheist podcasts, I found that they weren't quite what I was looking for. I was interested in stories of how people left Christianity and VOD is exactly that. There are a variety of people, from different cultures & different backgrounds being interviewed on how they deconverted from Christianity. Their stories are very poignant and encouraging, and help some of us that haven't quite admitted that we don't believe find the courage to do so. Can't wait for more. I wish you guys a long and successful run!

    I like the host's questions
I like how the host presents very similar questions to each guest. It provides a basis to see how different people relate to the same topics.

    Glad to hear this!
This podcast features thoughtful, sometimes amusing, accounts of why and how people leave Christianity and the lives they create for themselves. A real variety of people on it already--goes to show that the move away from religion in the US is real, and a good thing!
