Got through 1/2 of the second season and skipped ahead to see to season 6 which they are currently on. Too much Xander bashing… which is fine if there is funny dialogue or interesting facts given to compensate. There is not enough for me to stick with it.

As a long-time Buffy fan, I have enjoyed hearing about the show from the perspective of Rex and Josh. This podcast is a hilarious blend of friendly banter, personal opinions, and fun facts. And, it is surprisingly well edited for a podcast without a full production team. Nice job guys!! Also, please listen to the musical review, “Twice More With Irony,” it is a real treat!

I downloaded the Apple Podcasts app, googled how to leave a written review, and did it! That’s how much I enjoy this Buffy pod. These guys have the coolest transition music. Surprisingly feminist and HIGHHHHHLY inappropriate!

I usually stick to the queer, poc, and female podcasts… but I finally found two cis men I can laugh with! Yall are the least toxic men I have found talking about Nice Guy Xander. I have loved binging and catching up. I usually don’t listen to Angel podcasts because he’s so brooooody, but you two do it right. I love your laughter, the mom synopsis is always amazing, and Rex ending with “have a good night” always fills me with happy feelings. I look forward to wherever you go next! If there was ever a podcast that needed a Parental Advisory logo, this would be it—it's hiiiiighly inappropriate (and I can't get enough!)… well, okay, also because of Mom™. The hosts’ chemistry is undeniable, and their ability to switch from witty quips to insightful reflections adds an extra layer of charm that leaves you thirsting for more. Josh and Rex both do a great job over analyzing the occasional lack of logic behind some aspects of the show and making humorous or insightful character observations. They recently read my email in their episode “women’s plumbing”. This excited me very much. Yes. Apologies for typing Harry Groener’s name wrong…🙂Invader Zim voice, “Did I make it worse…oooor better?”. I especially love the Mom synopsis and would love to hear Josh apply his great impersonations to improv some of his own scenes between Buffy characters as he has done in the past. Whether it goes to the sexy place is up to you. This was Rose aka “Bad Fangirl”.

I’ve been a Buffy fan for almost ever! I am loving going back over the Buffy and Angel episodes and hearing the guys’ take on the shows. I agree with almost all their opinions from these (usually) amazing shows! Stay funny, you guys make me laugh out loud!

Josh and Rex have staked their claim when it comes to Buffy podcasts and definitely can help kill time if you need an escape! Oh and no need to watch along thanks to their dramatic readings…they give Gellar, Boreanaz, and Marsters a run for their money! But in all seriousness, started listening during the past year and was hoping to never catch up so I would never run out of episodes! Keep up the great work!

If you’re a BTVS and/or Angel lover, and you want to hear a smart and entertaining review of the shows, you HAVE to listen to Rex and Josh. They keep me laughing, and always give me something to think about for each episode. And-make sure to listen for the “Mom Synopsis!”

I should have written this long ago, thought I did. Great podcast, funny and insightful, with just enough inappropriateness. No long lectures on blaming society and writers from 20 years ago for not having today's values. Just the right amount of fun and respect for the show. I just started on Season 4, will probably catch up about the time they finish. Super excited for the rest of the journey with these guys 20 miles down the road.

Having watched all episodes(More than once) and continually keeping up with the show I can say it’s the only Buffy podcast I personally can regularly listen to and not grow bored or lose focus on. Every episode has me laughing at both hilarious hosts Rex, and Josh. They never miss on the comedy all while still giving a great review of a Buffy(or Angel) episode. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a easy listening, fun, and informative review of The Buffy series.

Best episode titles. Best long running jokes. Their laughs make me laugh. If your humor leans towards punny and inappropriate then you’ll probably love them as much as I do. I watch the entire series of Buffy every year and listening to these two talk about it makes me so happy. I’ve listened to several Buffy podcasts and love them all but this is the one I keep coming back to.

This is by far the best Buffy podcast I have heard, like they always said is highly inappropriate and that makes it really funny.

With the best insight and most (slightly inappropriate) comedy, Beer With Buffy gets down deep into it and feels like something I’d love to write for my Composition classes in the ways it analyzes the smallest of details. Irregardless of how you feel about Buffy or Angel, Rex and Josh bring great conversation and funnies to the table. Also, after listening to BwB 512, PASSIONS WAS A REAL SHOW. I hate to be that person; I’m mean. But truly, I love you guys and the show you make. :)

Updating to say that I’m still listening, and also loving AwA. Both shows were big for me growing up. I missed the podcast during your break. I hope you guys are recharged and loving making it again! Listened to all the available episodes in the last week. I appreciate the level of detail you give to each episode. Every time a scene is discussed I can see it in my head. Is this the best of the Buffy podcasts? That is an excellent question, ~I'm so glad you asked me that - and the answer is ----YISS! With their parental synopses, plot hole emporium and hiiiighly inappropriate content Rex and Josh will fill your hole with their plots. And probably anything else they have lying around. Do you want to hear the theme tune of Angel meowed out? Of course you do. Crack open a beer and strap in. Wheee!

As a lifelong Buffy and Angel fan, I find Josh and Rex’s recaps and hot-takes on each episode refreshing and entertaining. Their quirky sense of humor, natural comedic timing, and chemistry as as a duo shine through in each episode. I give them 2 severed thumbs up! 😉

I love these guys! The show went dark during lockdown — I thought the dream was over. Now I’m caught up and really enjoying the Ale with Angel content. The show is similar to other nostalgic rewatch shows like ‘The Greatest Generation’ or ‘Fake Doctors, Real Friends’. Rex and Josh do a great job of taking you through each episode without getting slow or boring. If you’re familiar with the Buffyverse, you don’t even need to watch the show because they explain the scenes and context so well. And they will call out bad behavior when they see it. Lookin at you, Nice Guy Xander... Update: Josh and Rex take surprise sabbaticals about once a year, but I’m so happy when they come back that i don’t care. It’s like when I go to work and my puppy is 100% certain I’m dead and not coming back. But then I do and she goes bonkers with joy. WELCOME BACK!

I love Josh and Rex! I just came across this pod cast about a month ago and have been binge listening every day to catch up to real time. Rex and Josh balance each other well and I really enjoy listening to them. Josh’s antics and Rex’s annoyance with said antics keep me cracking up. I love when Rex just breaks down in laughter. 🐓🐥 Usually I watch the entire Buffy series once a year but since going back to school I just don’t have time. This had been the BEST substitute because I can work, listen to Josh and Rex and still get my yearly Buffy fix. I used to make fun of my children buying merch from YouTube people and now I want a BwB hoodie ❤️

I have been listening to Josh and Rex yell at me about Buffy for 91 episodes now, and I couldn’t be happier about it. With Buffy being my all-time favorite show, I was very picky about my podcast choice, and after listening to a handful of them, I can happily say I found my match with BwB! They never fail to make me laugh while also bringing up thoughtful insight to the shows plot, characters, etc. Josh and Rex have an wonderful chemistry, and have successfully created a show that celebrates the lightheartedness/goofiness of the show, while also showcasing the heart and soul that has made Buffy the phenomenon it is. Joss would be proud. I 100% recommend this podcast to any and all Buffy fans out there! (Josh and Rex - next time I stop in Kalamazoo, I will absolutely be hitting you up for a beer over at the plot-hole emporium. On me.)

I just got into listening to podcasts mainly because of Fake Doctors Real Friends and Beer with Buffy. Beer with Buffy is great! Rhett, Jim, and Edgar are so funny yet they also point out things about the show that make you think. Edgar is especially insightful. While this podcast is mostly comedy, the serious moments are great too. That’s also what’s great about the show. Buffy has a way of making you laugh one moment then cry the next. The nostalgic references like ace ventura and Hook these guys make are fantastic. Oh man when they referenced Hook I flipped out! I love Hook! I also love Buffy and Beer with Buffy! I don’t particularly like beer itself but the podcast is still wonderful. Not sure what I’ll listen to on my hr long drive to work when they finish the Buffyverse. I just started listening 3 weeks ago. I watch an episode of Buffy than listen to show..than another etc. This really helps me to notice nuances of the show I might have missed. Also you guys are raucously funny. My cats Flixie and McCree really love the show and want to hear from Edgar. Please any one who reads this support them on Patreon. I have watched Buffy from start to finish many times. Who knew I could gain a new perspective? Rex and Josh are entertaining to listen to (Mom Synopsis, Broooooody Angel, Nice Guy Xander, and Spiketty, Spike ,Spike!) I giggle lots, raise my brow in interest at their opinions and then go back and rewatch the episode with a totally new perspective! I get sad when I run out of episodes, so I just go back and listen to my favorites...loving Ale with Angel so far. I do have to say that I don’t enjoy the voicemails. I fast forward through them. I’m only halfway through season two, and I have enjoyed this podcast thus far. I love the duo of Rex and Josh, it’s nice the co-stars are comfortable. Yes one party goes off on tangents at times but it’s a podcast not a news station, we’re here for fun. I love the small details pointed out that I otherwise would have never noticed. I only have one small criticism, and if this happens later please forgive me. Can we get a female perspective/guest star sometime? I’m glad Josh and Rex recognize the “nice guy Xander” trope they dubbed it, but it would be nice to hear some criticism/perspectives from a female POV. Keep up the good work you guys! -Kali

There are a shut ton of Buffy podcasts out there and most are terrible. Even the popular ones I can’t stand. THIS is amazing. I’m just sad I discovered them four seasons in because this is something I wish I could have been in on from the beginning. They touch on the serious side of the episodes while also keeping it fun and light, just like the show. I’m more of a wine girl myself but I can’t stop listening to this.

I. Love. These. Guys. Rex and Josh purvey a heady but well-balanced brew of astute cultural criticism and woke feels, with a formidable (and HIGH-ly inappropriate) 8.2% humor by volume (HBV, which is fortunately not transmissible by podcast). The result is a bracing, Spike-forward draught without that nasty academic aftertaste of so many other buffcasts. Beer with Buffy also boasts a far more queer-positive worldview than I would have expected from a couple seemingly cishet midwestern x-enniel males. And they don't kink-shame! Much. They DO mispronounce 'GIF' and fundementally misunderstand the mechanics and purpose of flossing; but, hell, nobody's perfect. 'Sure, they make with the funny...' I hear you cry, 'but are these boys endearing or just obnoxious?'; to which I must respond: Why not both why not?

I looooove Beer with Buffy! I am bored with covid-19 quarantine and a friend suggested I tried out podcast. I’m a long time Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan so I found Beer with Buffy and it’s amazing. I’ve reached the end and am so sad there’s no more yet! Josh and Rex are hilarious and play off each other very well. I always laugh at the mom synopsis’s (Jooooshua!!). If you are a Buffy fan like me you’ll love this. I could do with less chicken noises is my only complaint. Keep up the good work guys. I have been a fan of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” since it came out and I am very protective of it. I was worried that Beer with Buffy would hate on my favorite show and make me angry... but it’s very much the opposite! Josh and Rex love the show too but take a critical eye to it and have made me think about it in a way I never had before! It’s been fun to listen to a different perspective on my favorite show!! My husband has to tell me all the time that Josh and Rex can’t hear me when I talk to them while listening lol If you love Buffy you will really love this podcast!!

AWESOME show on Buffy with funny as hell hosts and hilarious comentary! I never really watched Buffy, but I was able to follow along on with them on the show and I really loved hearing their passion for talking about the show mixed with their banter :) I love listening to the hilarious voicemails as well :D Don't stop this show, it's definitely worth listening to!

My boyfriend and I just found this podcast and are now obsessed. The hosts are super funny, great with accent imitations and just say what we are all thinking about the characters and the plot. Since I can’t watch my favorite show while driving to work every morning, listening to a comedy podcast about it is the next best thing. Definitely give this podcast a chance!

This Podcast helps me get through work. The nostalgia is sometimes overwhelming but in a good way. I enjoy their take on the episodes as well as their humor. Can’t wait for an Angel podcast spinoff. I need more episodes in my life.

I have listened to SEVERAL Buffy podcasts and this is by far my favorite, these guys are funny, intellegent and get Buffy! Also seem like they would make great drinking buddies!

I've listened to every episode and can't wait for the next one. (Okay, I can wait, but I'd rather not.) It strikes just the right balance between mockery and admiration. I haven't watched Buffy since Netflix took it off so this helps fill the void. They guys do a great job and I think any Buffy fan would appreciate and enjoy the podcast.

This is currently one of my favorite podcast that I listen to! When I heard that two guys drinking beer were doing a podcast about Buffy (a pretty feminist show) I was CONCERNED. But to my delight, these guys GET IT. The way they love roast this show, it just speaks to my heart. I love how they can do a great analysis of an episode while also making fun of it in the best way possible! I love the chemistry that Rex and Josh have, they always have me laughing out loud in my car like a crazy person, so thanks for that! As somebody who is perpetually watching Buffy over and over again, going through it with this podcast has been a wonderful and refreshing experience! I’m excited to listen to the rest and hope they go all the way to season 7! Great job!

This podcast just brings me so much joy! I am constantly laughing out loud and I love that it’s such a light and fun part of my day. Rex and Josh have a great dynamic that makes you feel like you’re just popping into a conversation with friends and it makes my commute bearable! The mom synopsis is pure gold and the fact that they can make each other genuinely laugh makes the show all the more fun! If you love Buffy and have a sense of humor you are in for a treat!

I've never watched Buffy The Vampire Slayer but listening to Josh and Rex recap the episodes makes me feel like I have seen it. And it's better because these guys are HILARIOUS. The "Mom Synopsis" segment kicks off each episode and if you're not LOLing, what's wrong with you??? I listen while I work and it makes the long days go by quicker.
