Beautiful podcast that is very accessible - I love the interview format - while touching into deep teachings, questions, and possible truths.

    Heart Friends
Elizabeth states that she and Anam Thubten are "Heart Friends"...it certainly seems that way in this interview. I feel like I'm sitting at the table with them. Anam Thubten is a master of presenting the essence of whatever he is talking about...the bare and beautiful truth always right there in his tone of voice. Its a special opportunity to hear these teachers discuss the Dharma and share their observations about practice and students in an informal setting. Looking forward to the second part of the conversation! So far, Open Question really has my attention.
  • Truly Engaging!
    Truly Engaging!
From the moment the podcast started to the end of the first episode I felt totally engaged, invigorated and drawn into this world of open potential. Elizabeth is not only inspiring to me but comes from her experience. I met her over twenty years ago. She walks her talk. If you are looking to find a way to navigate this rapidly changing world with an open, alive, warm, heart, Elizabeth is very clear and open and is able to guide us. Thank you Elizabeth. I love the music and episode when you were outside including nature in your podcast. I was right there with you!

So loving, deeply profound and yet so applicable to all we love and hold close!
Elizabeth is a loving presence in my life for as long as I have known her! Can never repay her kindness!

    Wonderful!
From the first moments, Eliz brings you from ‘virtual space’ onto the earth in Spring, thus saying, “this is an embodied, personal, revelatory experience.” We aren’t ‘talked to’, but welcomed into a slower, happier, informal and authentic world where we can resituate ourselves into a wide and open heart and mind. As a professor of 25 years, I can unequivocally say, Elizabeth is a wonderful teacher. Listen and hang out with her heart and mind. You’ll be glad you did!

I so appreciated this exchange. It felt so palpable the collected wisdom and knowledge. I liked the suggested questions that we could be asking, What can I do during this time? What can I let go of? Taking this time as an opportunity to look within and go deeper into ourselves or our practices. It was an intimate sharing with potant stories woven in. I highly recommend listening to A Moment of High Magic more than once. Thank you, I feel so fortunate.
  • Beyond Exaggeration and Denial
    Perfectly Attuned
I have been listening to Elizabeth’s teachings for many years and was looking forward to seeing how she would approach this interview format. The first podcast with Lorain Fox Davis shows her natural ability to create a space for open, inquisitive dialogue between wise people. Every phase of their conversation was meaningful to me and perfectly attuned to the need for an uplifted perspective during this disorienting, magical time. I look forward to more!

    Engaging and mind opening
Elizabeth’s genuine curiosity to living fully and openly, while intertwining decades of Buddhist practice and study, comes through easily in this podcast. As Elizabeth said herself, “The purpose of open question is to recognize the inner brilliance of oneself and each other. And to engage the process of open questioning together.” I, personally, am looking forward to diving into each one of these podcasts. They are a real treat for anyone who enjoys an engaging dialog, open inquiry, and being left with a bit of awe.

    Great Timing!
This podcast came at the perfect time. I am currently going on week 7 or 8 quarantined in NYC. I have been listening to Elizabeth's teachings for years, and she has really helped me learn to find calm and joy within myself regardless of my circumstances. I am so happy this is getting out into the world. It is perfect for fans of Tara Brach who are interested in exploring new teachers. I wish there was some guided meditation! That is the only part I felt could have been improved.

    Fresh Perspective
Elizabeth's cheerful and refreshing presence is uplifting and reassuring in these difficult times. You can even just feel it in the quality of her voice. After I listened to the first few episodes, I found myself slowing down and paying closer attention to the things that really matter in my life in a way that I normally don't. I cannot say how welcome this is in my life. As her first podcast, it is surprisingly well put together. Her interview style is gentle and generous, drawing out gems of wisdom of her guests. I am excited to see where the podcast goes next!

    Open Question
I listened to A Call to Inner Brilliance and loved it. I was particularly struck by the description of what it means to navigate our lives with a mind that is open to all the unexpected moments that happen every day. In this first talk, Elizabeth takes us through an ordinary, you might say humdrum, day and shines a light on all the unanticipated moments that are constantly happening. It opened my mind in a very simple yet profound way. I look forward to continuing this exploration of the open question with her.

    Living Dharma
Although I’m not able to accurately assess anyone else’s qualities, in my personal experience, Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel has consistently been one of the most inspiring examples of naturalness and depth. Her rigorous study and passionate exploration of the Middle Way teachings of the Buddha always seem inseparable from a heartfelt urgency to merge these teachings with her lived experience, which very much includes how she uplifts and serves others with bodhichitta. Elizabeth has a burning enthusiasm to see the Dharma in everything she experiences, yet without deluding or distorting the authentic lineage teachings even slightly. Her awe of experience is contagious, and her genuine, unfabricated humility clearly indicates how much she cherishes the inconceivably vast and profound teachings of the Buddha and Guru Rinpoche. Elizabeth never lets herself off the hook, taking the easy way out with rote answers or photocopied approximations, but instead continues to seek the elegant poise of fresh, adventurous inquiry that joyfully leans into the unknown with playful curiosity and razor sharp vision. She seems to thrive on the challenge of being present without any safety net, never allowing mere knowledge of Dharma to be enough—it has to be a fresh, real time engagement with precisely what’s happening right now, which is why I’m very excited to listen to her podcasts in conversation with other deep thinkers and spiritual practitioners of various faiths, traditions, specialties, and backgrounds. Her unwillingness to compromise depth or get stuck in easy answers highlights Elizabeth’s spacious flexibility, her appreciation of vivid openness, and her love for others and the world, allowing everything to be as it is: dynamic, creative, messy, unpredictable, and always teeming with life and new opportunities to embody the vast and profound lineage wisdom of the Buddhadharma here and now.
