    Disappointed
After hearing the phrase “I don’t know what that word/phrase means but <insert opinion>” I lost faith in the credibility of the speaker. If you want to talk about a subject that you know nothing about, you do your due diligence before starting that conversation. Since that didn’t happen, I was only left with the realization that the topic wasn’t actually being discussed and was instead the vehicle for a personal rant rooted in lack of understanding and active desire maintain that lack of understanding. In order to form a respectable opinion on something challenging, one has to be willing to meet that challenge with an open mind in order to take in new information and balance that into a well -informed opinion, whether or not I agree with it. Resistance to change and new ideas is tough but it’s how we approach that challenge that really shows our integrity. That integrity was lacking.

    I tried…
Like many here, I too tried to listen and give the podcast a chance to develop and progress. However, the unprofessional rants and political and religious talk make it hard to take seriously. We all have our opinions, biases, and views but if you’re going to make an educational psychology podcast leave the “witty” banter and personal views out. I am hoping Dr. Nigro will take some of these reviews to heart and the podcast will improve. I’ll come back later…

    Love the podcast!
I really enjoy how authentic the talks are . The dynamic between the two is comical and genuine , which I appreciate. Interesting topics, keep it coming!

    Loyal listener
Love Dr. Nigro I have been listening for a long time and I do not miss any of his podcast. Thank you for sharing your insights and knowledge ❤️❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
  • IGFGreat!!💗💗😍😍
Dr. Nigro and Julie are the best!
I love this podcast and look forward to it every week! I feel like Corey and Julie are old friends and I love their organic podcast format! The topics they discuss are always interesting and relative. Thank you, you two!!!

    Silverware?
What is this guy doing, cleaning his silverware while he talks? So distracting. I can hardly focus on what he’s saying. Seems like he gets distracted himself as well.
  • Textdgh
    Why the politics?
I was getting into the show, and then he went anti-Trump for some reason. It was totally unnecessary. What a hypocrite this guy is.

    A must listen!
This is a great podcast to have on hand for quick listening. I enjoy having topics that educates me while I’m doing whatever it is I’m doing. Not only that, but today’s podcast has impacted me in a very positive and inspiring way. Thank you Dr. Nigro and Julie. Having a “safe place” to influence my mind and keep me grounded while I’m not seeing a therapist is incredible. Thank you thank you thank you for doing the work you do. I appreciate you. I’m going to go make dinner now, because I get to! I shall be reflecting about how lucky I’m feeling to have the ability to cook a meal for my family. Definitely a podcast everyone should explore. An easy decision!

    Hard to listen to
The topics all look interesting, but I find the delivery so frustrating. Feels as if he sits down to record with only a general idea but no notes. Digressive, repetitive, lots of verbal tics, disorganized.
  • ️TNR supporter
Interesting topics, needs a little improvement in podcasting presentation.
Great topics, the background noises and podcasting style take away from it.

If I could give more stars than 5 I would
One of the most interesting and educational shows I’ve listened to. From the information he delivers to the comfort in his voice, this podcast is an all around safe space with the most incredible host and necessary information about the human brain. I continue to learn with every episode. Thank you Dr. Nigro!

Really wanted to like this podcast
The background noise is just too distracting to fully give the speaker my attention.

    Great information
I love how informative this podcast is. I’ve learned something in every episode I’ve listened. And I’ve enjoyed reading the psychology book recommendations Dr gives from time to time. Never lacking of topics

    Background Noise
I wish I could rate this much higher because the content itself seems great. However, the near constant background noise (shuffling papers, hitting the mic, moving things around, etc.) is so distracting and irritating. Especially for an educational psychology podcast.

    Cut the wife
Love this podcast. But the wife talking up drugs….. not what struggling people need.
  • amdona
    Distracting
I actually like what he says and TRIED to listen but as mentioned by many, the background noises were just too much! Impossible to listen to with all the clanging and banging like a Cafe kitchen! It actually causes anxiety! Don't they understand how offsetting this is to people? Losing many listeners. The dishes and apples CAN WAIT until after the podcast! Or have the podcast in a DIFFERENT room with the door shut, for the love!

    Extremely Beneficial
This podcast is very educational and helpful for anyone trying to better themselves or others. So genuinely heartfelt. Just great humans! Thank you so much for giving your time.

    Good content
I've learn plenty from listening to thispodcast. How to handle situations and even how to handle individuals that suffer from mental illness. The host is great but I feel concern when his wife comes in and sometimes seems impolite.
  • Desert Parrothead
    Very Disappointing
We all have a right to our opinion, but if you choose to gain knowledge from the Conversion Disorder episode, please be careful. The information seems to be incongruent with articles and studies I have read elsewhere. It seems to be one person’s opinion. (And the mic quality, background noise, and the “umms and uhhs” are very distracting).
  • Abbigale6767
Very educational- would love to pick his brain
I truly appreciate his perspective. I would love to hear what he hast to say about ADHD autism and FASD. these are all topics. I’m doing my thesis on. if you have any educational resources, Doc send them my way.

    Get 2 mics!!!!
Ugh I want to give 5 stars but I can’t because your sound is bad with what appears 1 mic. If you are going to have a discussion between the 2 of you be prepared. It’s like the woman just walks in and interrupts and the Dr. is annoyed.
  • Sarahbellafoster
I wish it was more structured.
I think the information is great but for such intelligent people, the “ummms” and “uhs” in between almost every word KILLS ME and takes away from the content.
  • Athletic girl 17
Consistently hits the nail right on the head
Extremely educational, evidence-based and experience-based and not at all boring. Perfect mix of science, advocacy, and empathy. As a psychology undergrad who not only studies mental health and illness but also lives it, I appreciate this podcast so much. Wish Dr. Nigro was my professor. I will lean on these episodes though grad school for sure!!🫶🏽🧠🫂

    Very helpful
As someone that is married to a person with BPD, this podcast has helped me understand so much. Diving into to all the old episodes. Thank you🫶🏼

    Back ground noise
Sounded interesting and wanted to listen!!! But distracted by background noise and wondering if it’s someone doing dishes!!!! How unprofessional! Than when the host asked his spouse to contribute she said no she was doing the dishes….. I’m out. The atmosphere needs to be done in a quieter more attentive, professional manner.
  • Joe Pennyroyal
    Interesting topics
Topics are intriguing but the background noises of movement and bumping things is too distracting.
  • Honest Drunkard O'Malley
Rambling, poorly informed, rushed, and disorganized
A podcast this is not. Listen to the nervous breakdown episode. You’ll note that the hosts are delivering off the cuff and are totally over generalizing and are completely disorganized. Script, script, script! Outlines are critical for sharing information with audiences.

    Stop Unloading the Dishwasher
Oh good lord. This was painful to listen to. I cannot believe that they are just cleaning the house and doing the dishes while recording. It’s so ridiculous. Good therapists are hard to find and this guy falls into that classification too. Actually reminded me of a therapist I once had who was so distracted during my one session with him that he didn’t hear anything I said.
  • Dalzate19
    I love this podcast
I am currently doing my BA in clinical psychology and just wanted to really have more information about psychology besides the one school provides me with. I just started listening to this channel from the very first episode and is like opening my mind in a way I didn’t know I could, thank you, I look forward to listen every episode!

    Podcast Etiquette
This podcast is interesting, despite having heard some misinformation or outdated research. Podcast etiquette needs improving. There is so much background noise, rustling, etc. I find it hard to follow when there is so much movement going on in the background. Fix it, please!

This is such a no amazing reaource!
Honestly this podcast should have CEUs. Very informative and interesting!

    Informative and entertaining!
I am a newly licensed psychologist (just passed the EPPP) and have found this podcast to be an enjoyable way for me, as an early-career clinical psychologist, to think and learn more about a variety clinical topics. I recommend this podcast both to other mental health professionals and to those with with interest but little to no prior knowledge on mental health topics. Both Corey and Julie are informative, experienced, and charming. I especially love when they bicker with one another and find myself laughing out loud sometimes! #TeamJulie :)
  • jellington11
    Outdated, poor ethics
The husband talks over the wife. Their dynamics are old school and gross. They also don’t seem to care much about brown people. If you want information from a perspective already informed on racial and gender inequality check out the Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology Podcast instead. If you want to hear from Boomers who are fine with not challenging their own inherent biases your fine here. 0/10.

    Pod helpful 🔥
The podcast is very informative and helpful.
  • mikedapple
    Not evidence based
This podcast is somewhat concerning, and given that having only listen to one episode, I identified three pieces of scientific misinformation. The podcast host seems to depend more on his opinion than empirical scientific evidence.

Great podcast! Especially the most current episode about emotions running wild. Been dealing with it for over 15 years, and this episode has helped me put a lot of things into perspective. Corey and Julie both have great points on everything! Keep it up y’all 🩵
  • OKC31
Corey and Julie are incredible humans
I felt the same as most reviews here, the background noise, the little jabs that seem to be taken, the sarcasm started to annoy. But I came back and kept listening, and the background noise and their relationship dynamic started to become endearing and comforting. Even listening to them talk has become therapeutic. They are very genuine and Corey even took the time to call me for talk for a half an hour, a true act of kindness that for someone in despair makes them feel worthwhile. I only wish I lived closer so I could see them both in practice. Keep up the amazing work, it is very much appreciated!
  • WRW😂😆🥰😊👌🤙👍😝😃🤣
    Love it
I'm only on the fourth episode and i'm already hooked! I started listening to this podcast bc i thought psychology would be fun to learn about, i just never knew how interesting it could actually be.

    Episodes not labeled correctly
I was excited to have found this podcast and started listening to the social anxiety episode, it started out good but then the wife started speaking completely off topic. She rambled on and on about medications, about how to advocate for yourself when in a hospital etc, completely off topic, the husband even told her to please stay on topic but she ignored him and went on and on …. 15 mins later I couldn’t take it anymore and felt like I have wasted my time listening to this. Someone might be interested in her opinion about medications but please make this a different episode and label them correctly - a social anxiety podcast should be about social anxiety and not about your opinion on medication for all sorts of sicknesses.

    amazing
this podcast is AMAZING. Ive been listening to it for a year. as someone whos suffered with mental health this has been so educational. great stuff on relationships too!! everyones talking about the background noise- it doesnt bother me. such high quality info that it makes up for it
  • ginagaliano
    Oh that back round noise!
I’m surprised it’s so distracting because if I was actually there in your kitchen I don’t think it would bother me at all. It’s almost like a cat scratching a black board. Well maybe not that bad lol. It certainly doesn’t prevent me from listening to you guys. I just love you guys you’re doing absolutely amazing, amazing work. I’ve learned so much and I so appreciate both your generosity in giving us so much of your time!! I tell EVERYONE about your podcast as it is SO important for the world to be properly educated on us very complicated and complex humans! #springsteenrules

    Great!!!
So for it is great. Keep listening!!
  • YCSFS
Good content but speaker needs some training
The content is pretty good but the speaker says “uh” so many times, and what he’s trying to say takes forever to come out - it is apparent he has a stutter and perhaps he has overcome it during his lifetime but he needs some more training in order to be a public speaker. I am patient but found I lost my patience listening to this, waiting for the information to be delivered on a more timely basis.
  • KruegerBend
    Background noise is horrible
The content is great, but I almost cannot listen, because the speaker is constantly moving and making noise and it is extremely distracting. I would really love for the host to figure out how to lessen the background noise because it takes away from the wonderful content that he’s trying to share with his listeners.
  • imjenjame
    Authentic Host and Informative
Thank you for the information. Thank you to the hose for simply wanting to help. I have not listened to any other podcast that is this real and helpful for me as a mother to a teenager who needs help.
  • Nallely1992
    Great Content
The episodes are great, informative, and educational. However the background noise is distracting at times.
