MarleynycMuch Needed PodcastI can’t begin to express my appreciation for you both and this podcast. I’ve been following you guys since I learned about you on the ChooseFI podcast. It was dope to see a black couple like my wife and I (who are also from the Islands! Shout out to Haiti and Brooklyn) in the FI community. I read your book and loved it. I started to follow your podcast, watched you guys on the Netflix series you were featured on and now will watch your documentary on YouTube. One of your podcast episodes even helped my wife and I reconcile over a financial issue we disagreed on! Your show is versatile and timely. And the dynamic between you two is great. Keep up the good and NEEDED work on this space!!!
-
Shaybetter1Thanks for the informative expat episode!Your expat episode was so informative and shared a lot of details and things to consider that most people who talk about migrating or digital nomad life online miss. Thank you for the thoughtful and humorous insight!
-
Sac streetGreat butThis is great, but Julien needs to learn to pass the mic. Once he starts talking he rolls & rolls & rolls. Kiersten, I bet you are the best coffee date with friends
-
BWood83Great InformationThe podcast constantly covers great topics that help to improve your finances and also really make you think.
-
JonyAlrich & Regular & RELATABLEI love listening to this podcast because of the conversation they create between my husband and I. I love how they apply personal finances to every day life without making it feel like we’re talking about finances per say
-
Dot the ExplorerLove It!!Recently stumbled across this page and I can’t stop listening. Very practical and relatable financial advice!
-
C Mitch22Awesome showThis show is absolutely amazing!!! Started listening in 2024 and haven’t missed anything. If you want a podcast that will make you think while also teaching you about not only finances but also how to live your daily life…this is the podcast for you. Kiersten and Julien really speak the truth and check out their series Money on the Table as well. One of my favorite episodes, was when Julien talked about fatherhood, that really blessed me. My family are going to be moving to Atlanta next month, so hopefully we can meet you all one day with your in person meet up. And yes, I always listen to the very end!!! Be blessed!

NaturalN2itionMuch Needed Episode!!This episode about saying no to lending money.. 🔥. As someone deemed to have “made it”-I wish I had this episode about 10-15 years ago! Such wisdom and great advice that I hope others take advantage of. Matter of fact let me send it to a few folks to ensure it gets in needed hands!
-
JoyPhDPilotloyal listenerI love seeing a couple sharing real advice on FIRE. Having a parent you support is real and typically not even considered on other FIRE or finance podcasts, keep making excellent content relevant to folks who look and live like us!
-
WGS SFThank you!Love the content you all put out. The recent episode on affordable senior housing was sooo informative. Thanks for your vulnerability as well as information. It really got me thinking about my parents and my plan for retirement.
-
diggydog2Real people doing the real workI came upon your podcast after watching a YouTube video with the both of you and Household FI on the ChooseFI channel . It came across my feed even though it was 3 year old. Content is still relatable … I just listened to your episodes on brokerage accounts and ADHD. I really appreciated the info about brokerage accounts in terms I could understand . Kiersten thank you so much for being brave and vulnerable to share on the ADHD episode. I can relate to everything you said. I look forward to diving into more shows on you podcast!

-
MarvaDMorrowYour favorite podcast’s favorite podcast! This is one of my top 3 podcasts about all things money (and it’s not 2 or 3). Listening to them makes me feel smarter. They present in a way that’s not overly technical or boring. Their information is digestible for all ages. As an avid follower, I like this show and content they put out on all platforms.
-
hannahshadFinally, nuanced money convosI’ve been a longtime FIRE follower. What Kiersten and Julien do better than most anyone is talk holistically about money. Money as part of your actual life. Most money gurus talk about money in a vacuum. Not these guys. They want to get into the mess and discuss how changes you make to your money impacts your relationships, your identity, your felt sense of purpose in life. Love this couple and this podcast.
-

SJDulaFinally, something relatable!I stumbled across this show after seeing @forbetterorworth recommend it via instagram. Wow! I am extremely thankful they did. This couple is welcoming, relatable, and engaging - while delivering complex topics in a way that anyone can understand. I guess they live up to the name of the show! I encourage you to subscribe and listen to the knowledge they’re dropping on this show. Keep up the great work!
-
Auntie QueenGoldmineWell organized presentations on a wide range of personal finance topics for every stage of my knowledge acquisition and growth. Serious topics served up with a side of Kiersten’s charming humor and Julien’s dry wit. Rich and regular provide very helpful information with insightful comments. They’re my super-smart, out-of-state niece and nephew (in my head) who are kind and patient enough to say things plainly enough for their boomer auntie to understand.
-
AvidscifanBogus People and podcastIn episode 121 they actually said the increase in prices we are experiencing now is OUR Fault…the consumer. Anyone who knows a smidgen about Finance knows there are more factors that contribute to price increases. They basically told their audience (and everyone else) it’s solely our fault for the increased costs we are all experiencing. Plus, their episodes do not have updated information and most of the information is “surface” and/or incomplete as they don’t do their full research. These people are gas lighting the public as they really don’t give two cents if you learn what you need to know to meet your financial goals as long as their numbers allow them to be seen as “thought leaders” so they can get those advertising and speaking engagement fees. Their self-proclaimed title of “thought leaders” is egotistical and absolutely LAUGHABLE! There are more sincere podcasts available that truly understand the financial interests of their viewers and actually want their viewers to win. Don’t waste your time with these people.
-
Mannyc4uExcellentReally great stuff. Down to earth talk about money and planning for the future.
-
CECE0720Amazing Information!!!Julien and Kiersten address real life topics from an unbiased standpoint and offer ideas for application of various ideas. Their honesty and transparency provide a great example of how to pursue financial independence and navigate uncertain times while still making informed decisions. I’m so happy I found this podcast and their book!!!
-
Jk18395!Informative and EntertainingI have listened to about 50 episodes and I’m impressed at the thoughtful research, professionalism and insights Julien and Kirsten give. They break complex concepts down so that people can take action to better their financial lives. You guys are the best black podcast couple out there among many. Keep up the awesome work!
-
Anissa4334Love this podcast!I stumbled across this and can not stop listening. The hosts are savvy and really educating the listeners in every aspect of money. Keep the information coming!
-
HallyheartAnswer to my prayersOh mine! Thank you so much Kiersten and Julie for this episode. I am a first timer on here and now I am stuck ( in a good way). A friend just started dabbling into some kind of policy package sales and she was trying to sell some to me. She personally came over to my house to convince me. While I have filled out some forms, I have not given any form of payment authorization yet (Thank God). She couldn’t give me concrete answers to many of my questions as she’s new in the business. I was really confused. As in why are we mixing insurance with investments? I kept wondering if there is some community out there to help answer all my questions. I kept praying I figure it out before I signed the dotted line. That is exactly what this episode did, for free! It felt like talking to very knowledgeable friends. It is so timely coming across your show at this time. I can go on and on! Just so you know, you have got yourselves a new follower, listener and downloader. Once again thank you n God bless!
-
JeninDecaturEasy Conversation with your Genius friendThis podcast is best described as as easy, understandable conversation with your genius friend who doesn’t make you feel like the opposite of a genius! Great topics and high quality information.
-
Md0131Great Content, Easy to UnderstandI’ve been in banking for a long time and I sometimes forget that others aren’t familiar with the financial jargon I spew. Kirsten and Julien remind me that we have to go back to the basics when trying to help educate others on finance. I have sent so many people to listen to their podcast. I’m in the process of starting a charity that helps educate women of color on building generational wealth. I love how they break down the details of the topic while still keeping the listeners fully engaged with their wonderful personalities.
-
“AlwaysYoMommaEm”My Extremely BIASED* OPINIONKiersten and Julien are truly keeping financial affairs really, REAL! They make your take a deep dive into how much and the rational behind every dollar you give for services and products. Thanks for the giving “tips”$!$!$! #LoveYouABigPiece *Julien worked as a Graduate Assistant in my office!
-
Heidi pieTop Notch✨Today was my first time listening to this podcast and my first episode was the tipping one!! Sooooo insightful and hella relatable. 🤎Instant subscribe 🥳✨
-
Relle'sPractical ApplicationI love listening to Kiersten and Julien! They always share great information and advice for practical improvements!
-
wellnesschickIt’s okay not to be passionateThis episode was amazing. This concept has been something that I’ve admittedly gotten caught up in and over the past year realized the propaganda that lurks underneath the surface. While I don’t live to make money, I’m at a point in my life where if I’m working, the money has to be worth it! The time invested at work has a cost: time away from family, hobbies, physical activity (usually) and these things have to be worked around if they are values of yours. I’m currently leaving education for this very reason. The emotional cost is high and the roi is super low. Thank you for digging into this purpose conversation.
-
CarinaStudioWow! One good thing leads to another!Reading Get Good with Money led me to listen to Brown Ambition and listening to that podcast must have made this come up and I’m sooo glad it did!! What a treat! I’m a new listener but I’ve already shared it with my hubby and I plan on sharing it with more people. You had me at hello.
-
Gersha PorterBlack Success!I found this podcast while reading Success Magazine! I get sooo much value every time I listen and I keep listening. I’m a lover of all things #blacklove #marriageworks and #moneymanagement. I’m looking forward to more value in 2023✨✨

Neet_815 Star WorthyThe topics, energy, and practicality that the hosts bring every week truly resonate with me. I look forward to new episodes and highly recommend. Thank you for taking the time to educate us on things to elevate our personal finance game!
-
Ezzie98Love itI found Julien and Kirsten after meeting my partner and i can 100% say that our lives have changed since finding them. We listened to their book, cashing out TWICE and it changed my partners view on the corporate world and what is possible for us as a young black couple. So many gems every week from this podcast, they even made it into my Spotify wrapped top 5 podcasts.
-
Jordan GageKeep up the good work!My best friend bought me their book earlier this year and I really took to it after reading it. Soon after I stumbled upon the podcast and enjoy listening to them weekly on the mornings getting ready to work. Def couple goals and I love the variety of topics and the fact they they offer their genuine perspectives and aren’t afraid to disagree with one another. Love the contrast of their voices. Hope to meet in person one day.
-
Broke&indebtI like it.As much as I like the couple, I thought the podcast was a little dry at first. But it has grown on me. I look for it every Monday now. Their voices are a nice contrast. Sometimes I think Julien’s voice is too low like he is trying to talk sexy but I guess he can’t help his natural voice. I like when Kirsten comes in with the stats and research. I wish they would add an advice section.
-
wealth is my worthY’all reallyY’all work together well and both contribute equally! It’s beautiful to see this type of collaboration paired with excellent content. Love listening to your topics. Thank you!

Peaceful_Warrior_WalksEpisode 78 Hit Spot OnI could so relate to episode 78 - “Are You Too Loyal to your Employer?” You hit on some great points. I look forward to hearing more.

MeharrydocInformativeVery informative and transparent podcast. Information is always relevant, timely and 100% REAL. I also recommend their book as well. Lots of good information and real stories from real people
-
BrdrgrrrlKind, smart, informed and empoweringThank you for this kind, smart, informative financial conversation that captures the complexity of becoming financially literate (and activated). The hosts are funny, great story tellers and educators and they are culturally sensitive to meeting an audience where the audience might be, while elevating what some listeners think they already know! I am especially appreciative for how their approach removes shame from this topic of personal finance. The information the hosts share is accessible, explained in relatable terms, it’s specific to a niche for each episode so as to be meaningful, and it’s shared with warmth. I love this podcast!
