Dirt Dance FarmEpisode 43: Overcoming Tragedy with Pepperharrow FarmWow, Jenny! What a great episode. I am a new flower farmer and only peripherally familiar with Pepperharrow. I had no idea they had been through such a tragic, life shaking event. It was wonderful to hear how they came through it with the help of their community. Kudos to them! Thank you for featuring them and this story. Has definitely given me some things to think about, and do. After listening to the show I checked out their website and found the most beautiful varieties of celosia. Of course I placed and order. Can’t wait to see them growing on my little farm and will think of Adam and Jenn when they do.

Kate @ The Pointer’s PickLove to listen!I love listening to Jenny’s podcast for so many different reasons but primarily because she breaks down topics I feel intimated by as a flower enthusiast. Grateful for her podcast and will continue to listen religiously!
-
d.d.shopperConcrete informative podcastI love Jenny’s podcast and her dedication to getting the nitty gritty aspects of flower farming out to her listeners. As a flower farmer, the nitty gritty isn’t getting dirty on the farm… it’s getting down with the numbers in the home office, which for me has been made more approachable by this podcast. Appreciate you!
-
Sassy & ClassyInformative and eye opening!Jenny has a way of explaining the legal and business considerations to the beginner flower farmer. Excellent podcast and has tons of free resources on her website to build up future growers.

chulafitvlogsBEGINNERS - please invest your time into thisI am a beginner flower farmer and Jenny has taught me the legality side of building your business structure when it comes to flower farming I've been studying this for the past year and if it wasn't for her, I don't think I would have gotten my ducks in a row in regards to building my business structure and figuring out the legalities of operating a flower farm. she even provides you with free PDF to keep your crop expenses, organized, and all sorts of free PDFs as I am a beginner I cannot afford a course at the moment, but I am very grateful for Jenny to have made these webinars and give this information out for free everyone teaches you the soil blocking and transplanting part and things of that sort but no one really talks about the business part of it and I'm really happy that I found her and this podcast 🩷 - claudia / @azaleafieldflowers

karen jazzSix Figure Flower FarmingI love listening to Jenny and all her guests talk and share about their experiences in flower farming. It’s informative and inspiring. The podcasts always leave me feeling more confident and encouraged to be successful in my own flower farm journey. Thanks, Jenny and friends!!!
-
CoseytownCoseytownIncredible insights and future goals for our industry! What really helped me was to create a business plan for short term goals and then beyond. Knowing I could grow successfully in the first year set the tone for future years. I now have 3 P/T employees and 2 volunteers in year two. I’m still formulating my crop plans but I’m really leaning towards growing only dahlias and peonies! My business plan has been modified a few times to fit my needs. Over the winter months I had time to take a farm management course through university of Tennessee which was very instrumental in my path ahead. Thank you so much for the Coseytown podcast! It was excellent!🌸🌺🌼

RedBugLadyFran Perish episodeWhat happened to the quality of the sound halfway through the episode? Sounds like she moved away from the mic. Ugh. I wanted to listen, but couldn’t.

MeeshlippinBrand New Flower FarmerThis podcast is exactly what I was looking for. I have dreamed of starting a flower farm for years but was discouraged by a lot of flower farmers saying how much work it was for very little money. I finally decided to go for it anyway and am determined to make it a profitable business. Thank you for sharing your knowledge Jenny!
-
teachpeace50This episode spoke right to me!The same day of your “Make Your Competition Irrelevant” I had been contemplating whether my farming brand was too “extra” or would people be turned off from it. Your words solidified that it may be extra but that’s a good thing! My brand is catchy and will not easily be forgotten! I needed to hear that! Thank you! Tracy at Dope Growers Gardens
-

FarmerlinzI love this podcast!I am so grateful I found Jenny and this podcast! Her interviews are incredibly insightful and helpful. I’m a farmer transitioning from growing mostly herbs to more flowers on my farm, and the wisdom and stories she and her guests share have been so helpful for me as I tread in these new waters. Thank you so much, Jenny!
-
scigirl23Valuable perspectivesAs a new flower farmer, I appreciate getting perspectives and lessons from successful growers in the business that I can listen to while I work. Some ideas for future episodes: a lot of efficiency, focus, and downscaling and lean operating is based on past years’ data. How would you advise new business owners to successfully focus and gather relevant market research and data without previous data to draw from? Which information and records have been most valuable for small operations? After hearing Helen Skiba’s story, I’m also very curious about setting up healthy business relationships and frameworks vs. being exposed to awful losses. Partnerships are so important; how as a business owner to create safe and ethical working relationships and protect yourself?
-
EmBulmLove this show!I found this podcast in my “you might like” section, and I am so happy I decided to listen to it. I just started a small cut flower garden last growing season and ever since I love all things cut flowers. These are meaningful interviews with great information and I’m excited to see what’s in store for this podcast!
-

-
Scythe&StemSo helpfulI truly appreciate the content and advice in this podcast. There are a lot of commercial flower growing podcasts, but this one is unrivaled in the quality of the content, in my opinion. Jenny is a skilled teacher - I gained so much from her ranunculus lecture via the ASCFG and I was so delighted to stumble upon this show. Can’t wait for more episodes!
-
AnniedeadRaw, vulnerable, and extremely usefulJenny is so generous to share her failures and successes alike with us. Every episode has so many gems of information and it's a new must listen for me

Although her journey has been difficult, it’s full of so many thoughts and revelations that are key for so many entrepreneurs. Very insightful…. And resiliency is the common thread. kjm123445566789A Great Resource!I have grown flowers for my entire life. I am ready to take my growing to the next level and begin to share and sell my own flowers. I am learning so much from this podcast about real life business. I am learning the pluses and more importantly the minuses to having my own flower business. Being new to business I want to learn about real life work. I am excited to hear and learn something new every week that is useful in my own journey. Thanks for producing such a great show!
-
lizard5256783452So helpful! Keep going! This podcast has been so helpful as I am getting started with my own small flower farm business (as well as continuing to grow my family and our other farm enterprises). I’ve bought dahlia tubers from Trademark, and I’ve attended a Cornell Cooperative Extension workshop with Jenny. Her experience, information, worksheets, and advice to new flower farmers, or even experienced ones, is invaluable. I am not experienced in anything business or marketing related, so I love that she is willing to share the ups and downs of her experiences and the different things she has tried within her business to be profitable so that I can figure out what I want for my own business and learn more about how to achieve my goals. Please keep these episodes coming! I’m so appreciative and really enjoy learning from you. -Liz Frisbee
-
Sassypants loves Mustache MikeSo encouraging and valuable! As a 2nd year flower grower working to expand my profitability and sales (with NO prior experience in business 😝), these episodes have been chock-full of incredibly timely advice. I'm so thankful to learn from Jenny and stand on her shoulders to go further faster (& with less stress!). Thank you, Jenny, for your wisdom & authenticity. It resonates a ton to clarify my goals, keep good records, evaluate as I go, and make business decisions that will actually be profitable. I love your encouragement to do some market research and focus. That was just what I needed to hear.
-
MMitchell21ExcellentI follow her on Instagram and the podcast is full of lots of very useful information. Love it!
-
ecofriendlyfloSo far so goodIt checks the boxes, very informative, right balance of integration of personal life and interviews! If it keeps going this way I can foresee the podcast growing really well.
-
FlowerandForgedFarmsVery Valuable InformationI love how Jenny is looking at flower farming at a very practical level. Last year I was growing all the things and so burnt out by the end of my season. Having someone that’s made a huge profit SIMPLIFYING is almost like having someone give you permission to not do all the things and still make a profit.
-
hawaiiolagirlInspiring and EncouragingLoved this podcast. I love her make it work for you mindset.
-
Nik7015Clear, accessible suggestions for improving one’s flower farming life!Jenny is clear and offers down to earth suggestions that are achievable by all farmers and businesses. Kristin WisPractical and Thought ProvokingI’m really enjoying this podcast! The episode about scaling down was awesome! It got my wheels turning about what I really want from my flower farm. I too have been spinning with so many different sales outlets, and I now have clear direction about what I need to do to get me there. I can’t wait to implement what I learned!
