At least they think they are funny
This podcast is hard to listen to. The hosts laugh at their own jokes (which are cringey at best) and barely know what’s going on in the books they cover.
  • spookerk
    Unfunny
These guys are insufferable, they laugh at every dumb thought they have and it’s never funny, their jokes are never funny, they struggle to understand a lot of the manga they read, it’s just bad.

    Ever heard of…?
I encountered a manga a few years ago and I for the life of me can’t remember what it was called. All I remember is that it’s not a new one but it was about these ninken clans that fought each other (?). I know that the main dog was taking his fathers place and he was in command of groups of dogs. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Been Here Since The TGWTG Days
I’ve been following these guys ever since the Usagi Drop episode, though I was a fan of Nik before then thanks to his videos. I still miss those, but I’m glad that I still have this. You guys have made me appreciate good manga even more.

    Standout in a Crowded Field
While a podcast firmly in the genre of two dudes (and occasionally guests) talking to each other, Weekly Manga Recap is a standout in that crowded field for its hosts’ genuine rapport, digressions, and enthusiastic love of manga as an art form and storytelling medium. Chris and Nik make listening & reading a joy; even when they suffer.

Casual manga discussion at its finest
WMR succeeds where most other manga podcasts fail. No hints of pretentiousness, animosity or awkward, uninteresting discussion between strangers here; just two good friends who are as likely to come up with convoluted theories on recent chapters as they are to go on wild tangents about wrestling or bizarre school memories. Nick and Chris have a real knack for describing and commenting on the series they read, making the worst series or even a manga you might have never touched an enjoyable ride. The two are likely to get a laugh out of you even if they do not share your opinion on a given series. Each episode feels less like a podcast and more like listening in on the conversation between two very funny friends. A real gem.

This kept me sane for years
Dear Chris and Nick, I've been listening to you since you began doing this podcast on Lordkat's show years ago. It's been going on for so long and every day you bring a bright spark to my life. I'd dare to say, you and Nick kept me sane as I worked nights cleaning schools. Considering how crazy the manga you review are, and your own hijinks, that's saying something. I love your show, and now that I've graduated from being a vampire into a day job, I can stil be kept sane cleaning schools in the daytime. Thanks and keep up the good work. Will

    5 Stars our of Five!
Nik and Chris have an incredible chemistry together, and consistently dole out hour-plus-length episodes per week of manga content. From the simulpubs of Weekly Shonen Jump and offerings of Crunchyroll like Seven Deadly Sins, every week has honest and entertaining reviews of the latest Shonen manga and even viewer requested recommendations. They’re amongst the most talented hobby podcasts and deserve to beat the woodworkers! -Marion

    Great Stuff
Listening to WMR is one my highlights ever week as I listen to it while driving to and from work. Nick and Chris play off each other very well and I like hearing their thoughts on both the regular weekly chapters and the recommendations they get.

    Baby memories
Neither one of the hosts seem to have their baby memories. Podcast somehow enjoyable in spite of this.

The only people who could like this are plebs who don't have their baby memories. I'd rather set myself on fire then listen to another wrestling reference "Ray we don't even have tv here"

    It helps a lot
A good show that puts out a lot of content, from the analysis and discussion of around 11 different series, the Q&A, and the bonus shows. You also get the well handled banter between the hosts, and things ranging from the rant on idiocy in a series , to just hilariously absurd tangents, or just their eternal quest to beat the wood workers. It get's a lot of laughs out me and can really brighten up your day. If you read manga you should listen to it. If you don't read manga you'll still probably like it once you figure out what kind of madness is going on in the covered series.
  • helen_hill
    Fun and Dorky
A wonderful podcast where you don't even HAVE to know about half the tangents they go on to have a good time.

    BEAR GOD
Not sure if I accidentally clicked Cancel or Submit when I wrote my last review, so I'll just say that this is a fun podcast to listen to and DIE IN A FIRE for what you said about Senri from +Anima, especially about skimming over the BEAR GOD Love & Peace

for manga fans by manga fans
An absolutely amazing podcast. They were actualy the first ones to convince me to do patreon and i have not regreted a minute of it. they are always funny and always worth listening to. Their comentairy helped me geththrough bleach, and will no doubt help me get through fairy tail. Just try it. P.S. please make a 10 dollar tier, i want to give you more money but can't break through my lethargy without even a hand wave. it took me 5 months to do even this review.

    Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday Chris. A great co-host to a great podcast. With a wit that is symultaneously crude, wacky, and witty in one neat package. An EXCELLENT reviwer of manga for this manga related medium. .....Oh and Nik is there too.

    Review Of Weekly Manga Recap
I've been a fan of RolloT's podcasting since 2010 where I binge listened to a bunch of T-t-t-t-t-ransmission Awesome. 6 Years later he's still the best Channel Awesome related podcast and... awesome podcast in general. What really works about WMR is the comedic banter between the two hosts. Though Chris is more the general upbeat and jokey member, Nik's saronic deadpanned perfectly knows when to interject that. Either by adding to the insanity or denying it outright and the two have led to a lot of laughs and interesting observation over the half decade plus they've been doing the show and have really gelled as a team in that time. I guess if I had to nitpick some flaws it's that sometimes the scheduling of the episodes can be sort of erractic as sometimes they can be out after the Wednesday record on Friday but sometimes it can take a few days longer without any warning. I guess part of me would like to see more wackier voices used of various characters for the line up (again Benzaie Luffy... if you watched the podcast you'd get why I made that request) but otherwise very solid and enjoyable episodes I look forward to listening to every week. Keep up the good work guys and hope for more fun be it loving on say One Piece or Promised Neverland or tearing into the weekly fails of Fairy Tail and Black Clover.

The best workout for your abs
These guys are not only good at their reviews, but are hilarious. I have a 6 pack from all the laughter. Gotta love Chris and his Holiday puns especially Halloween. On a serious note though; both Nik and Chris do a amazing job for the manga community and I highly recommend them. Lastly, not everything in Food Wars is related to Honey Mustard, Chris. Keep up the great work guys!

A great podcast for anyone who enjoys manga
WMR is easily a highlight of my week. Chris and Nik have great banter and make any series fun to discuss. I find myself going back to listen to old episodes time and again, especially the Q&A episodes where their back and forth and love for their fans really shines through. They are also resposible for introducing me to some of my favorite series, from Shokugeki no Soma and World Trigger to the lesser known Vinland Saga and Teppuu. I would also like to congragulate Chris on his new relationship. I knew you two would be perfect for each other. Dibs on being Best Man.
  • The Great Rhapsode
    Truly the best Manga Podcast
This series includes a great blend of comedy gold, in depth analysis, and bizarre pop cultural references. It covers multiple manga series mainly from shounen Jump, but also popular manga such as one of my favorite series Fairy Tail. Nik and Chris cover recommended series for discussion from very great series such as A silent Voice, Jojo's bizarre adventure, Magi, and Monster. To the truly awful such as Usagi Drop, Today love starts, Future Diary, and Freezing.

A Pure Gold Comedy manga podcast
I went on a trip tn Japan for 2 weeks at the begining of June and was super nervous because i needed some podcast to hear while traveling. I Type "Manga" on the itune store and find this podcast. And after hearing them for a month, What i can say reader is that these GUYS DESERVE every support they get. I really apprecite they Time-Stamp all the topic they have. Will go all out on their issue on a manga/chapter they have, and still have a blast while hearing it. The Only Nickpick I will be honest to the reader and the WMR Crew is that Audio is a bit Average in sound design. After Years hearing high quality podcast, i can tell the audio is a bit average. Let me Clarify, IT IS TOTALLY HEARABLE And Passable, it just you might want to raise the volume on your podcast device when you hear them talk. I recommend you check out there feed for their past episode podcast, because there A High chance they might of done a episode of a manga you like I hope you give these guys a chance and spead the word about them, the deserve every little rating they can get.

    WMR is Worth Your Time
If you enjoy manga, you should give Weekly Manga Recap a chance. Chris and Nik have a great chemistry and work well together. They give every a manga a fair try even if it's not in a genre they enjoy, going so far to even get guests for another view point. WMR has great comedy, interesting critiques, and dedication to their fans. So whether it is a great manga, a horrible one, or just mediocre, be sure to let Chris and Nik know and they will make the review a memorable one.
  • Impossimitch
    WMR is great
WMR is that rarest of podcasts, all things to all men and perhaps to one special woman. Join Nik and Chris as they discuss the preponderance of boobs in Fairy Tail, the stark absence of backgrounds in Bleach, the existential surrealism of the sparkly eyes in Black Clover, and whatever the hell Toriko is doing lately. Truly this is less a podcast and more the concentrated will of God sent through audio to save us from ourselves. For like Christ once said, WMR is the light of the world to walk with them is to never walk in darkness, but to have the light of Osamu X Kitoria.

    Best of the Best
Have you ever wanted to learn about random and the current manga while being enertained by two dashing men who deserve their own comedy shows? There is literally no downside! Want laughs? We got laughs. Want rants? We got rants. Want tangents? Don't want tangents? Too bad, we got tangents. And you'll love them. With regularly streamed and content, and plenty of bonus content on top of that, this is an investment well worth your time. You will regret nothing except the knowledge that you could have been listening to them earlier
  • Tropical Blitz
A manga podcast to Rule all Manga podcasts. Of time.
Are you looking for a podcast that introduces you all about wrestling, sports, movies and music that you never wanted to know while occasionally having a thoughtful and intelligent discussion about manga? Then you are in luck, for Weekly Manga Recap is your one stop shop for all of these things and more! Each episode promises hours of laugh out moments, in-depth talks and rage fuelled screams. Plus, listen as 2 grown men undergo a transformation from being tsun tsun to dere dere to World Trigger, a manga the hosts take great care each week nowadays to caress its proverbial bookspine. The hosts, Chris "Formerly known as LordVanQuack, but lost his funky hat so its Rollot now" Larios and Nicholas "Y. The ruler of Time, Master of Space, arbtrar of Wisdom and Lord Of hand-me-down Xmas gifts" Freeman, offers their unique input and view each week on all sorts of topics, and at times it might even relate to the manga discussion! Chris' forms the emotional epicentre of the podcast, what's with his bitter sad tears over how Toy Story 3 ended and how cartoons make him sad, all the while maintaining critical skills which are as sharp as an ice pick. I would go so far to say that Chris is in a lot of way similar to the 6th President, Benjamin Franklin. Both are Pennsylvanians, are loved by foreigners (with Chris, the Emiratians, English and especially Germans, while there wasn't a French women Ben hadn't meet he couldn't woo, as his governmental expenses reports had proven). Sadly, Chris likes corny 90's themes, in spite of his otherwise respectable music taste. That might no seem like a flaw, but remember, Benjamin Franklin only ended up as Pennsylvania's President while a Quincy became the Union's 6th President, all because he forgot that women suffrage need to happen for all those French women to vote for him in the general election, so the worst case scenario now is that a giant anamorphic hand rules the Free World. Meanwhile, Nik, who puts forth a grouchy, chocolate pretzels hating demeanour, possesses keen intellect, strong spirit, a strong moral compass. Listen to him talk about any subject, and how he masterfully use his knowledge of Yu-Gi-Oh, wrestling and spiritual matters to craft compelling metaphors and argument every week without fail or hindrance. He is in a way the King Solomon of manga podcasting. Except, he's of Dutch not Jewish descent, and Solomon got his rings after God came to him in a dream and granted him infinite wisdom, whereas Nik 10 magic rings are ingrained with the wedjat eye, which would be highly blasphemous. Also, he hates chocolate. To close off, remember, much like President Kennedy said more than half a century ago, and the examples the hosts go by, we are all jelly doughnuts, cut from the same delicious dough, stuffed with the same gooy red stuff, and traveling down the Milky Way on this crusty stuffed marble we call Gaia. Ich bin anna boylen!

    Well worth the heresy.
Do you work part time at a private Christian school? Then you probably shouldn't listen to this while working there. It might be considered blasphemy or something. However, if you aren't restrained by that very specific situation, and you love manga, or at the very least joy, then you should definitely listen to this podcast. It is without a doubt the funniest manga podcast currently out there and the combination of the hosts' wonderful chemistry and insight makes for a fantastic two hour experience that is well worth the price of being chastized by the school's pastor because I didn't realize that my headphones weren't plugged in.

    The best in manga podcasts
If you're looking for a manga podcast that'll help you stay on top of current running manga while being funny, then this is your podcast. The biggest highlight are the hosts, Chris and Nik. Chris's enthusiasm acts as a nice contrast to Nik's calmer and dryer wit and both play off each other very well. The podcast also takes recommendations every so often and have covered a wide range of series. If you like this and are looking to support in other ways they have a patreon page that leads to bonus content for you to enjoy.

    Best Weekly Manga Centric Podcast!
I've been watching WMR since the very first episode and I stll look forward to it every week! The genuine excitement/bafflement the hosts Nik and Chris have for the chapters they discuss makes it a very enjoyable watch whether it's the live show or listening to the recording later. I hope this podcast continues on for a long time!

Big Love Letter to Weekly Manga Recap
Dear Y the Ruler of Time and Rollot you guys are like an real life One Piece because you're both super excited and fun but sometimes Chris does turn into Fairy Tail sometimes when he talks about his World Trigger To My Heart but that's okay because you're still fun to listen. By talking about early Bleach, you guys remind me that it was great! To me you guys are like Wolverine and Luffy because how cool you guys are. P.S Do you mind if I make fan art of your podcast?

    A very entertaining show.
These guys might not know the major differences between mayo and Miracle Whip, but their manga crtigiquing skills are top-notch. I've read and picked up new series thanks to their recommendations, and WMR is a fun show to listen to any time, anywhere.

A great and funny podcast for manga fans and even the most casual fan alike.
A weekly podcast that covers weekly manga releases and fan recommendations, hosted by Chris "RolloT" and Nik "YRuleroftime". These two work very well off each other and provide for some very hilerious and enjoyable conversations to listen to. Whether for a long drive, while working in the yard, or jus for your own enjoyment. Weekly Manga Recap serves as a great and humerous listen.

    Great Podcast
I love these guys. Every time a new podcast episode is uploaded I take some time out of my day to enjoy these two. Nothing is better to me than listening to them say jokes and offer their insight on some of my favorite manga. P.S. If you guys read this could you please include a manga called Kingdom in your podcast. It's my next favorite after Shokugeki no Soma. Thanks!

    Responding because of Catholic guilt
I love this podcast and also I am currently a Catholic school teacher and went to catholic schools, so is funny to hear Chris rant on it. Great commentary on manga as well and got me reading quite a few titles.

    WMR RULES!!!
As a person who couldn't bother keeping up with the bs of Bleach and Naruto WMR were my knights in shining armor, always coming through with great banter and just the right amount of insight.
  • Pheonix03
Amazing manga and amazing hosts come together.
WMR is an entertaining and enjoyable podcast that never fails to provide some great laighs and insight on weekly shonen jump manga every week, as well as provide some great reviews of manga series both old and current. Recent events have led to some monthly special episodes as well, providing even more entertainment. What really makes WMR the best are its two great hosts Chris and Nik, who are not only a pair of funny guys but have great knowledge of manga. If I have any criticism, it would be that there are a few weekly series they don't don't touch on, such as Onepunch Man and Seven Deadly Sins. Also, World Trigger is definitely their favorite in the line-up, and sometimes it can feel like they speed through other series in order to get to their discussion on the WT chapter.
  • Marvelous Mr.D
    10/10 fanfiction
RolloT writes amazing erotic fanfiction and showcases it in the show, which is far superior to the erotic fanfiction written by that wood working podcast, which is pathetic considering that they should be experts on wood euphimisms.
