Windy13007Informative Facts CheckedRefreshing fact checked local and national news. Minus the advertising, NPR & OPB are my go to evening and morning news addiction. Good solid reporting. Thank you!

Seize the coffeeDisappointingAlways assumes the left view is the only and right view.

GermanyGirlPNWOPB fails to represent environmental impactOPB Politics Now reports on the major, historic changes to Oregon Urban Growth Boundary laws, which give the governor the sole power to approve expansion of growth boundaries throughout the state to bring semiconductor manufacture business. I fault OPB for completely failing to represent the ecological, environmental impact of this decision. What the heck. Reporters focused on emotional stories of current rural landowners, rather than including any ecology science. OPB seems to support the destructive concept that development of our natural spaces is inevitable. In an environmental crisis of global warming and climate change, Oregonians should be smart enough to redevelop poorly-used, already developed space, while protecting and restoring ecosystems throughout the state. Wetland, prairie, Oak forests and savannas, mixed forests, stream restoration, etc. Democratic policy makers are blinded by their general support of a Democratic governor. Let’s have serious reporting on environmental impact NOW. Let’s hear from the scientists and the tribes, and those who speak up for the need of future generations of people, plants, animals, etc, who need Oregon ecosystems intact for a healthy future. OBP should hire reporters with strong environmental backgrounds. It’s our biggest crisis. Don’t you get it?

BurgFB’24Gatekeepers gonna gateI found out today Gov. Kate Brown was sued if clemency efforts? I found out from a family member who heard it from Fox? I look it up and this story is two weeks old? Why isn’t OPB doing more regular, relevant podcasts?

ebe235711SuperbSuperb reporting. Great source for local news. Thanks

zackdaddy85Weak and partisanAlways assuming the leftist view is correct without any real debate.
-
PresidioSFMore objectivity and respect neededAs a local, listening to the show’s coverage of current protests has been a disappointment. One reporter in particular injects his personal point of view and is openly dismissive and mocking of those who disagree with him.
-
CamianPDXExperienced local reportersGreat podcast, I always appreciate the experience and perspective of all the reporters. My favorite source for local politics. As a newer Oregonian, I love hearing the historical perspective on the various races and positions. Helps me understand Oregon better.

Matt MeskillGood ShowGood local coverage.

RogueIggyPERSThanks for the “nerdy” coverage. We definitely need to keep our promises to those already retired or near retirement. It would be helpful if you would dig into the perspective of Oregonians who do not have pensions, yet need to see services diminish or pay higher taxes to support current and future PERS beneficiaries. The unions (I am a union supporter) need to be aware that they are playing into the hands of the Republican Party by their intransigence. Thanks for listening.

pgrabin1Great info on OR unionsGreat podcast on OR unions. I’m new to the state and the reality of so many unions for many public employees.

Tigard RyMetro transportation bondIn the last episode of Politics Now, the guests implied that a transportation bond measure is on the ballot in November, which is not the case. Metro Council has referred a parks and nature bond measure to the November ballot, not a transportation bond. It is regrettable that the parks bond was not discussed by the podcast host and guests.

cminorI had no idea how much I’d love thisThis podcast is a current favorite. It’s interesting enough to hold my attention while being factual and balanced enough to not be part of the exhausting politics atmosphere that made me think I didn’t like political commentary. Thank you so much. You are my constant relaxing companion. Next up, more women than men on panels an equal amount of the time?

crisptwundoBest politics pod in OregonThis has been one of my very favorite podcasts ever since it came out. Contributors are knowledgeable and Julie Sabatier is a pro host/moderator. Could not more highly recommend.

App9575478)Great insights into local politics.Mapes and Lunch are like peanut butter and jelly or perhaps more like stolen bikes and used needles. Best Analysis of what's happening in the state and down in Salem.

Seaners4real (for real)Falls just a bit shortPluses: Good to have an Oregon-centric news/politcs podcast, several of the hosts do seem to try to present things in a non-biased way. Cons: One host in particular, the news director, is so blatently, off-puttingly partisan that it makes me doubt the fairness of the whole production.
-
TofuliganExactly what I was looking forWith the disappearance of state and local newspapers, it's particularly difficult to find good local reporting these days. This podcast is top-notch, relevant, and refreshingly spectacle-free.

PinotGuyOregonOPB Politics NowI just listened to a few episodes of OPB Politics Now and I think it is a good overview of local issues and how we relate to national topics. Realistic.

David Gibbs Portland 4444Anna Griffin is a GUY?I like this show - it's smart and authentic. It drives me CRAZY that Geoff Norcross repeatedly refers to Anna Griffin as "guy". Maybe I'm mistaken and she does really identify as a guy. If not, Geoff - try calling your co-hosts "folks" or "colleagues" - something gender neutral. Thanks -

HistoryEnthusiastPerfect variety, perfect lengthLove this weekly window into Oregon politics. Geoff Norcross and his panel cover a great variety of stories. I always enjoy "That's So Oregon," and at just under a half-hour the podcast is just the right length.

Space SherpaDNC coverageI enjoy this podcast but have a few criticisms. I am interested in Oregonian politics and wish you guys would cover our representives in more detail. I thought the coverage of the DNC convention was abismal. The DNC email scandal is a very significant politically, and has implication that havent been fully fleshed out. In the entire series of podcasts on the convention, in which you found ample time to discuss the nuances of the pro-Hillary videos being played and the effect of Tim Kain speaking spainish, you only manage to dedicated roughly four minutes to discussion of the wiki release??!! You guys mention DWS stepping down for corruption, but make no mention that she was picked up within a few hours of her resignation by Hillarys campaign... Come on OPB, you're better then this! I was hoping this podcast would give me a well-rounded discussion of the political climate from an Oregonian's perspective. Instead it seems like this podcast is just a reiteration of the talking points that you can hear from any of the mainstream media networks.

kandi2755Finally!Yes, finally a well produced, frequently updated Oregon politics podcast! Added to my daily playlist!

J-FunqueIf you love Oregon and care about her direction...As a lover of Oregon and a native to the state, I greatly appreciate this podcast. Local politics matter, but these commentators take ordinarily dry subjects and make them interesting, personal, and compelling. The "That's So Oregon" segments are funny and true, highlighting the ways in which our state truly flies with her own wings. And the fact that politics east of the Cascades get more than just honorable mention is something I appreciate.
